If you want a quick and dirty solution:
Find the file ltcm.py on your system (should be in /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/studentcontrolpanel/ or similiar) and replace the line that starts with '-' in the patch with the one that starts with '+'.

A better solution would be to create a Debian package that includes the
patch and install that locally. If I find the time to, i may create a
.deb and upload it here, but I cannot promise that at the moment.
