Given that we currently automatically sync ipython from Debian, and this is a small change, could you please submit the patch upstream:

Do note for the future that if you make changes in Ubuntu, you need to modify the maintainer field per:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/FAQ#What does XSBC-Original-Maintainer mean?
