Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

We can sync the latest version from karmic as debian has applied andreas 
moog's patch to fix ftbfs.

Changelog since current karmic version 2.1.dfsg-1ubuntu1:

vice (2.1.dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Fix FTBFS with gcc-4.4 (closes: #537772).
  * Update Standards-Version to 3.8.2 and debhelper compatibility to 5.
  * Add main category to desktop files.
  * Remove some more autogenerated files in clean target.
