This bug was fixed in the package gcal - 3.01.1-6ubuntu1

gcal (3.01.1-6ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: add -D_GNU_SOURCE to CFLAGS to fix FTBFS with
    glibc 2.8 (LP: #236838)
  * Modify Maintainer value to match the DebianMaintainerField
    specification.
