Comment 26 fixes for me also- Ubuntu 7.04 2.6.20-15-generic.

FYI, I'm now using network-manager-vpnc and ran into this issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-
vpnc/+bug/92570. The new .deb supplied in comment 19 has both fixed
(worked-around) my dead-peer-detection issue and has fixed the network-
manager-vpnc issue in bug report; I haven't yet established if the
issuer of the .deb in comment 19 has also commented out
"06_stolen_from_head" from 00list.
