It seems that I might have found one reason why I cant play some flash
movies on Ubuntu. In Google Chrome and Chromium at least.

The past day or so, I have been getting an error saying

the following plugin has crashed : /opt/google/chrome/libgcflashplayer.so

Is there anyway I can get around this please?

Hello John,
The error suggests you have installed chromium locally. Perhaps something did not quite go right with the install or you have a buggy version installed in /opt/google/chrome

I prefer to use chromium from the personal package archive https://launchpad.net/~chromium-daily/+archive/ppa. Try install chromium from the ppa and remove the local copy (or take it out of your command path).

I have been able to run sites such as the bbc iplayer without any problems using the ppa repository. I dont update every day though.

Hope this helps.

--
John Stevenson
jr0cket.com
