Anton,

Out of curiosity, can I ask why it's worse to package software in a .deb file in the long run?

Liam

On 10 February 2010 20:43, Anton Piatek <anton@piatek.co.uk> wrote:

The new maintainers guide you have already found is the main doc I
would suggest you start with. The Debian policy is also very helpful
as it explains every detail you could need to know (hopefully) but it
is more of a reference and not a tutorial.

It really is worth learning to build the packages as source packages
and build them with dpkg-buildpackage/ppa/etc (I say this because I
know a lot of people think its just easier to compile the code and
build a .deb with dpkg-deb, but it really works out much worse in the
long run)

Good luck with it! It really isn't as hard as it seems at first!
