when you say it doesn't work, do you mean 3d effects? you will need
to tell the x server to use the nvidia drivers. try running:
sudo nvidia-xconfig
(i think that's the command)

no, it won't use the driver at all, and I end up with a badly stretched interface. Effects don't work either.<BR>
However, I used to use nvidia-xconfig, but now it conflicts with the nvidia-glx(-180) package, so it's not even installed now :(<BR>
