Oops my bad, I thought it was still 8.04, I'm 6months outta date. Sorry for that! I thought that it was still April, I really need more sleep :)

Anyway good idea with starting a new thread, I agree with your ideas even if I did just make a fool of myself. However, there should be some systems in place to raise cash for Ubuntu posters and CDs etc for advertising even if it is just locally. Perhaps a donation system would be best since Canonical ain't out to make money from Ubuntu.

I am assuming the said launch party would be for 9.04, however depending
on when the launch party takes place, we may need cd's for 8.10 which is
the current release, if these are given away people at least get a
taste of ubuntu and would perhaps attend a follow up event to get 9.04
installed,

9.04 is due april 2009 AFAIK, as so thats like 6 momths,

sorry this is a new thread as this was first mentioned in a thread
related to voting, so i replied to that so decided to start a new thread
for a launch party. see thread
I just thought such an event should be in its own thread, and the sooner
that starts in a new one its easier for all of us. I just wanted to ask
some questions,
