I would boot up Ubuntu and when the blank screen appears hit Ctrl-Alt-F1
and get into a virtual console. Log in there and do:
        sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
and answer the questions. Mostly the defaults will work.
Then reboot or restart X using:
        sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart

Tried suggestion twice but it tries to load but to no avail(I say OK to
all suggestion)<br>

Cant boot with "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart" - have to switch off<br>
<br>
Any other ideas?.........When it tries to load desktop I hear a sound
of drums in the distance very faint!<br>
