You are entirely right.

However, what some of the /other/ Google results said, ones that I
/didn't/ link to, was -- pretty consistently -- "don't just copy the
files, use the Windows sync tool, that is the right way to do it".
Obviously if one does not have or use Windows and has Ubuntu, one
cannot do this.

However, one answer was relating to using Windows Explorer but putting
them in a particular place. This apparently /is/ supported and
/should/ work and as such maybe it /will/ work on Ubuntu. That's why I
posted the FAQ entry.

So it is kinda sorta relevant.
