Hi, sorry about the HTML - new install of Thunderbird!
I've more or less solved it - changed the Graphics from Optimus to UGA 
in the BIOS,
installed TPL and Powertop.
In Powertop, I changed all the "Bad" settings to "good".
I'm now getting about 4.5 to 5 hours on battery, which is good enough 
for me!
