[ubuntu-uk] zoostrom laptop at ebuyer

I am trying to install the wifi driver  rtl8723 for Ubuntu 12.04 kernel 3.5
and was unsuccessful;.
I followed

The command  wget -O-

returned unexpected end of file ==> So dead end.

I have then tried to follow

git clone http://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723au.git

sudo make
sudo make-install
The last stage :
sudo modprobe 8723au     (after hitting return nothing happened) I rebooted
the machine and still no wifi

Not sure what to do now
