[ubuntu-uk] 11 - 13" Notebook Recommendations?

I can confirm Lenovo are good - I have a Lenovo U410 which is right at the
top end of your specs - £500 and a 13.5" screen.
All the hardware works just fine with 13.04 and 13.10
