[ubuntu-uk] Error from update-manager

I get the same error msg in terminal with those commands :(

I do have problems with this installation - frequent crashes when the
screen goes to text-only, several times a day. Probably my oldish
hardware, as the same problem doesn't seem to be happening on my laptop
which is much more modern. (At least, the person using it hasn't
complained!)
