Hi Everyone
I've been doing Youtube vids for a while focusing mainly on Ubuntu
Tutorials, Distro Reviews, and some Application & Gaming reviews.

My channel has been around for a couple of years and I've had getting on
two million views, so I've seen the level of interest on different vids.
Gaming is such a tough subject to cover, I've found that the majority of
reactions are "Linux can't do gaming". Which of course is wrong - Linux can
do OpenGL games very well... DirectX based games though are hit & miss.
Its also very difficult to get a decent recording, quite likely due to the
resource drain on Compiz. Maybe in the future I can get a second computer
to capture directly from the HDMI output.
The most popular gaming vids I've done are:
1. Grand Theft Auto 3 in Wine - 16k views
2. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas in Wine - 10k views
3. SuperTuxKart - 9.1k views
4. Angry Birds in Wine - 8.9k views
5. Secret Maryo Chronicles - 3.8k (but its one of my oldest vids)
6. SteelStorm Episode 1 - 3.1k views
7. Cube 2 - 2.8k views
8. Xonotic 0.5 - 2.7k views
9. Portal 2 - 2.7k views
Compared to the Distro reviews of Ubuntu 12.04, 11.10, and 11.04 which have
received 19k, 39k, and 140k views respectively.
All I can conclude is that there isn't much interest for gaming in Linux,
and theres also an overall falling decline in the popularity of Ubuntu.
My video on 12.10 Alpha 1 received such a low number of views that I
couldn't be bothered to look at the Alpha 2 when it was released.
I doubt many people are all running off to Mint (despite what DistroWatch
shows) because those Mint vids of mine get less interest than the Ubuntu
derivatives vids get.
Or maybe people aren't interested in Youtube anymore?
Ivan
