thanks for this, i might give it a go. i'm happy to  see i was not being daft. 
Seems like something relatively easy to implement and I am sure I'm not the only one. 

Does the ubuntu brain storm thing still work as a suggestion box or would it be better to go into launchpad and clasify it as a bug?
