Yes, i think i remember reading that pre-installed machines have slightly different set-ups.

Sounds like something to do with the graphics, what card does your
machine have in it?

VGA compatible controller
2nd Generation core Processor Family

are what appears to be a spontaneous sleep which it won't recover from
and occasional freezing of the mouse for a couple of seconds, which
appears in the logs and is apparently a long standing bug with some
synaptics touchpads.

Someone seems to be saying that an update of the driver .so file solved some problems that they had.
