Unfortunately, we already have one. Our call logging system has a cmdb element, but it is nothing better than a list of servers with not much info.

Trying to convince management to buy another product is gonna be hard. I was hoping for someway of doing it through SQL tools.

I'll definitely look into ocsi

why not have a look around for an asset management system that's already
built? such as : http://www.ocsinventory-ng.org/
