The current Gov have been making the right noises for Open Source for 
ages now:

"The days of the mega IT contracts are over, we will need you to rethink 
the way you approach projects, making them smaller, off the shelf and 
open source where possible.”

Clearly it doesn't hurt to lobby your local MP but use some of their own 
rhetoric where possible.

George Osbourne reckoned he could save £600m using open source in a 
speech about 2 years ago... The Conservative have been on this case for 
sometime.
