Can you explain what is missing in the multiple monitor case?

As a matter of interest did you try Unity-2d to see if the memory and
crash situation is any better?  I am not suggesting that you should
have had to use 2d just interested, as I use 2d and currently do not
experience such issues, though I do not leave it on for weeks at a
time, admittedly.
