I've just tested it again - it shows as USB not UVC.
Also the part number on the label on the connecting cable is NOT listed 
herehttp://www.quickcamteam.net/devices/logitech_uvc_device_list.pdf either.

Is that why although it works in Cheese it doesn't work in Skype?
