I now have a key on my wi-fi.  When I first put one in, Linux would not
let me in as the WEP key was too short,  Windows didn't seem to have any
idea that this was the case.  For some reason I don't understand,
switching from 64 bit encryption to 128 bit allowed me to havew a short
key.  os illogical.  But now it works OK.  About time I had a secured
connection anyway.  Glad I was prompted.  Wish I could solve the
original problem.  Try using a different key.  The recommended number of
characters is on my Linksys setup screen.  It accepts less.
