Re: Laptop
I run Xubuntu 9.10 on an Acer Aspire AS1410. It's a small laptop (as opposed to a netbook) with an 11.2 inch screen, 250 Gb disk, 3 x USB, a card reader and 2Gb RAM, and it supports HD video.
Absolutely no problems; no lock-ups, no crashes. When I absolutely have to use XP I just fire up Virtualbox, which handles everything perfectly.
The only downsides are that the shiny bodywork picks up fingermarks easily and it has no on-board CD/DVD drive, so you'll need to budget £50 or so for an external one. It was about £330 at PC World just before Christmas.

Nige
