If she wants to browse the internet, she'll probably want flash to work
so probably better to stick with 32 bits then.

If your spare wireless PCI card doesn't work, have a look at the list of
supported cards [1] before buying anything. Otherwise, I recently got
wireless working on an old laptop using a Netgear USB adapter I found at
Maplin for £30.
