Hi all
I'm hoping that when I upgrade from Karmic to Lucid I will get full
Video + Audio chat in Empathy with MSN Messenger clients. Currently,
when my bother in Aberdeen (I am in S Wales) comes on-line I have to
type him a message and say I'll see him soon when I get re-booted into
Windows.
But the problem is that I cannot get my microphone to work. Sometimes
it works, but it will never stay working for more than five minutes. I
once had a full AV Skype chat with him in 5 minute chunks, but every
time the mic stopped working I would have to completely close Skype and
do 'alsa reload'. Now, not even alsa reload brings it to life.
I have tried lots of stuff to try and get it working. I am old friend of
alsamixer and pulseaudio sound preferences. I have installed the latest
version of alsa (1.0.22.1). I have tried putting a model in
alsa-base.conf.
Sound output works OK and I can hear what I say into the mic coming out
of the speakers, but no programs hear it.
Can anyone help? Or suggest where I can get more help.
Tony
