MID = Mobile Internet Device, such as maybe an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad or 
PDA etc with internet access.

I gather with the web interface of VLC, it's possible to have the PC 
plugged into say, a stereo system so it can play music and it can be 
controlled using a web browser on a phone etc (so you don't have to get 
up and switch tracks/volume etc without getting up and doing it on the PC).
