Given that the author is completely upfront about his allegiances, 
perhaps his frequent references to GNU/Linux are not too unreasonable. 
And he is doing a 'compare and contrast' review with other operating 
systems, so maybe you'd expect him to mention OS X and GNU/Linux a lot.

Of course, few Windows users, will ever read an article like this, so it 
won't influence anybody much - they get their computers from PC World 
with Windows already installed.  And most Windows users don't ever 
install Windows, so many of the author's comments - for example, about 
partitioning, relative ease of installation, and dual booting  - are 
redundant.

But compared with a lot of stuff you read from FOSS zealots, I thought 
this piece was balanced, thoughtful and temperate.
