One very easy program to use is http://www.yuuguu.com as it requires no
configuration of routers or Command Line knowledge.
Just download and install the .DEB package, signup, login and start
screensharing with others.  This does require user intervention at the other
end, ie they need to accept the screen sharing invitation and authorize you
to control their keyboard and mouse.

Is very useful to see what the other person is doing if you are providing
technical support.
