Paul, the simplest method of installing Google Earth is probably to add
the medibuntu repository, it can't be included by default because it
contains software that is copyrighted, patented or otherwise restricted
in its use.

Have a look at http://www.medibuntu.org/ and the repository how to page,
and follow the instructions, once you've done that, you should be able
to install google earth via the software centre.
