I immediately sent an email (and link) to my three local councilors
asking them to do likewise and save money locally by calling for
greater use of open standards and open source software.

Just received a reply - a positive one

I am happy to raise this matter with the Council. We are always
looking for efficiencies, particularly in these times.'
