'Linux Certified' say I would have to return it to them at my own expense. I wouldn't know how to flash the BIOS, but I should have thought that I would need a boot option to do it. Anyway, Mike Daniels has kindly responded to my last post with a personal email recommending these people, who are practically within walking distance from me:
