Hello,
There's an option in the Banshee preferences menu (sorry, don't
remember exactly where) to turn on writing of tags out to files, so
that answers one of your questions. As for the other, I see a banshee-
inotify-watch plugin at [0], and an upstream bug with patch at [1]
which is still a work in progress. At least the former should go part
of the way to helping you out, and the latter might please you to know
that the developers are working on just this feature.
