Not quite - there's an extra step:  you have to save the add on .xpi 
file to your computer (eg in Desktop);  then, in Thunderbird, go to 
Tools/Add-ons, and click 'Install' at the bottom left of the window. 
Navigate to your .xpi file and 'open'.
