Hi Rob,

After installing Ubuntu by default you will get =
the kboot bootloader. From here if you want to boot the game os, its just a =
mater of typing "game" or a command similar to that, the kboot bo=
otloader screen documents it and that boots you into the PS3 and makes that=
default until you change it in the PS3 operating system. Also just hitting =
return or waiting will boot into ubuntu.

From inside ubunutu using the terminal the command &quo=
t;sudo boot-game-os" will set PS3 operating system to the default aswe=
ll.

<div class=3D"gmail_quote">2009/12/20 Rob Beard <span dir=3D"ltr=
Well I've decided to get the kids an 80GB PS3 for Christmas. =A0Now bei=

the geeky type I am hoping to install Ubuntu on the PS3 as well. =A0I'v=
e
been reading some installation guides to prepare myself for the install
but there is one thing I'm not sure about...

Now I know the PS3 needs to have kboot installed (I'm guessing this is<=
br>
the PS3 Linux bootloader?), however I was wondering, after installing
Linux, does it make kboot the default every time the PS3 is started up?

The reason I ask is I don't want the PS3 to boot into Linux by default,=
I'd rather it boot into the XMB by default and then boot into the
OtherOS when I choose so (I'm thinking it will mean I don't always =
have
to have a keyboard plugged in and the kids won't need to bug me
everytime they want to use the PS3).

Can anyone confirm if it is possible to still set the PS3 XMB (if I
understand correctly it's called GameOS?) as the default when the PS3 i=

turned on?
