I'd personally buy a Samsung Digital TV, has VGA input and
particularly impressive colour range.  I use a 32" widescreen one for
presentations and it works well (I know you don't want widescreen, but
I'm sure they do other ratios too).

You also have the benefit that if you're waiting for something to run
or download you can always check News 24 to see what the weather would
be like outside if you weren't chained to your PC, lol!
