Well, I'm no expert on earphones or sound quality etc., and I'm sure you've
heard this before but,

If you're prepared to spend about £20 the sennheiser PMX100s (or the other ones,
the pmx are the ceckband which I prefer) are very good. Quite sturdy generally,
and (to me) they seem to have very good sound quality.

Other than that, before I got the sennheiser ones I used a spare pair of archos
headphones that came with someone's mp3 player for about 2 years, and they
weren't half bad :P.
