[ubuntu-uk] Strange GDM Problem

I'm curently having a strange problem with GDM (although fortunately it's
relatively minor).

The problem occurs like this, most of the startup goes normally, GDM begins to
start. Then presumably some kind of error occurs, because GDM restarts. The
second time it starts, it works absolutely fine.

I looked into the /var/log/gdm/ logs, and some of them show some kind of error
(I assume these are the ones where gdm restarted). The error looks like this,
and it is also shown in the Xorg logs:

AUDIT: Sat Nov 22 10:42:43 2008: 6702 X: client 4 rejected from local host (
uid=0 gid=0 pid=6735 )
AUDIT: Sat Nov 22 10:42:43 2008: 6702 X: client 4 rejected from local host (

uid=1000 gid=1000 pid=6748 )

I had a look on google, and a problem similar to this was mentioned in earlier
versions of ubuntu related to the nvidia driver, but the fix (reinstalling the
nvidia driver) made no difference, so it doesn't seem to be that.

Thanks in advance for the help
