"freebie" you say? How long a contract did you sign to get that "free" phone
and how much will that contract cost you over that period?
The thing I like about the openmoko is the flexibility and openness. No
sim-locking, no proprietary firmware preventing me doing stuff, and yeah,
ssh to the phone over usb is "cool".
The one thing missing from the openmoko is 3g, but there's plenty of other
features that make it a neat device.
Look at the massive community of people developing stuff for the iPhone,
there's no reason (other than market share) that people wont develop for
openmoko.
