LibGD allows you to create graphics on the fly using PHP.

This means that you can use data in a database to create graphs on the  
fly by calling the php-script instead of an image:

<img src="graph.php">

This executes the php script and puts an image in its place.

It's definitely worth a look, used properly it can work really well!
