That's not going to be possible. You need a computer of some
description to be running to download the torrent, something has to
accept the packets, decode them, send the appropriate responses to get
more packets, reassemble the files from the chunks sent over the
network, etc. 

The suggestions were for low power systems capable of doing that.  In
theory you could have a desktop that could go into a low power mode
and just leave enough running to do torrents (laptops are some way to
being able to do that with frequency scaling and switching off
peripherals).
