  the first port of call would be to come say hello in IRC! :) start up
your favorite irc client (visit
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InternetRelayChat if your not sure
how) and join us in #ubuntu-uk, we are a lively bunch and hold monthly
'meetings' on irc where we talk about various things of interest to the
uk team. 

you also might want to join the ubuntu-uk team on launchpad if you have
not already, visit https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-uk to do that :)
