Doesn't work here:

ormiret at eligeto:~$ xhost -local:
non-network local connections being removed from access control list
ormiret at eligeto:~$ gksudo -u st firefox

ormiret at eligeto:~$ xhost +local:
non-network local connections being added to access control list
ormiret at eligeto:~$ gksudo -u st firefox
ormiret at eligeto:~$ 

firefox started the second time.
