I hope that you won't give up. Minor hiccups like this do sometimes
happen. Hopefully our suggestions will encourage you to keep trying
with Ubuntu.

I would guess that you chose a 'recommended' package while adding the
Java package that enhances OpenOffice.org. Unless you are a Java
programmer (like me), you can safely abort the
installation/configuration of the sun-java5-doc package, as Eddie
suggested. It's very technical documentation only intended as a
reference for programmers.
If anyone else reading the thread would like the docs, the option to
download the files mentioned (jdk-1_5_0-doc.zip or
jdk-1_5_0-doc-ja.zip) appears if you click the button under the "J2SE
5.0 Documentation" heading, as Matthew said. You only need one of the
two files.
