[ubuntu-uk] How does update-manager -d decide whether to offer upgrade?

Had Feisty running on both laptop and desktop PCs.
On the laptop a week ago I decided to take the plunge, as I was having
various issues with Feisty that I suspected might be fixed in gutsy, one
of which was the inability to read memory cards through the integrated
card reader... unfortunately it didn't fix the issue, and I had an issue
with Thunderbird crashing (which was fixed by uninstalling the Calendar
component - thanks to Ubuntu Wiki for that fix ;-)) but I am generally
quite happy with Gutsy and would like to now put it on the Desktop too.
Unfortunately when I do "update-manager -d" I don't get offered the
option to upgrade. Why is this? Seems odd that the laptop and the
desktop would do two different things...
Anybody any ideas?
Sean
