Is that a question?  I have hardly ever used Windows so I wouldn't know.
I've just observed it go off.  If it's the norm of Windows that light
off means you can unplug now then Windows users may find it confusing
the same doesn't happen on Linux.

Is it by design?  Presumably the kernel isn't doing the same as Windows.
Is that so mount can make it available again without having to unplug
and re-insert?
