I totally agree with this... delegating the responsibility for 
connecting to the internet and providing the initial firewall to a 
router makes a lot of sense...

You end up with a setup where anything with an RJ45 network capability 
can effectively connect to the internet, without worrying about drivers 
or anything else... saves a lot of time in the long run, and modem 
routers really aren't very expensive at all...
