[ubuntu-uk] UK LoCo in the North West

I got a warm reception at today's MANLUG meeting when I talked about the
Ubuntu-UK LoCo team and we might work with LUGs. It was recognised that
there is a lot of common ground between what the LUG is trying to
achieve and what the LoCo is aiming for but at the same the LUG wants to
retain its multi distribution offerings. I think the challenge will be
to find what distinguishes the LoCo from the LUGs, apart from being
Ubuntu centric.

So from that came the idea that a future MANLUG meeting would be an
Ubuntu day. The LUG would welcome presentations on Ubuntu or related
topics. If we could get a well known figure in the Ubuntu/Canonical
world then that would be a great draw, but I think real user experiences
would also be good too!

MANLUG meets once a month, on the third Saturday of each month, except
for December. The programme for the November meeting may already be set,
so the next most likely opportunity is January, 2007.

I also found a list of LUGs in the North west, so I'll be contacting
them so that their members have an opportunity to attend.

All in all a small but excellent start.

Regards,
Tony.
