Macromedia Flash is a proprietary, binary module (aka no source-code, no way
of fixing it or know what it does). Flash version 8 is not available for
i386 Linux. Apparently version 9 or 8.5 may be made available, but that
isn't the case yet. The best you can do for the moment is:

  sudo apt-get install wine

Download the Win32 version of Firefox:

  http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.5.0.4&os=win&lang=en-GB

to your desktop and double-click it to install it. Then use that version of
Firefox to click on:

  http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/xpi/current/flashplayer-win.xpi

and install Flash 8 into Firefox for MS Windows.

Now you should have a Firefox icon on your desktop, which will load the
Win32 version (with Flash 8) using Wine. Magical.
