[ubuntu-uk] USB TV stick and installing the (latest?) kernel

Firstly thanks John for the idea. It's exactly what I'm after.

But..

I downloaded and burnt the live iso to a cd. It boots ok into the 
initial menu. But on running it (1st option), I get the following error msg:

can't access tty: job control turned off

??
